First Day Painting 08/10/08

This is some of the less than good luck I was talking about in the previous post.

This is some of the less than good luck I was talking about in the previous post.

Isn’t it beautiful? And boy do we need the moisture, but when I’m trying to get out to paint rain isn’t first on my list of wonderful things to experience. Here it was a sweltering 58 degrees. I did manage to get my canvas stamped though so if there’s a dry place between here and home I’ll find it. I’m going to paint something even if it’s wrong!!!
I headed down the mountain in hopes of finding a dryer climate on the plains.

I headed down the mountain in hopes of finding a dryer climate on the plains. Finally a bit of sun.

Finally some sunshine.

plein air, 16×20, oil eldon warren

I drove under the first bit of blue sky I could find. There were clouds and rain all around but for that moment the road was dry and nothing seemed to threaten too much. I knew it wasn’t going to last too long so I got me a big brush and pushed as much paint in two and a half hours as I could. I’d have sunshine for a while and clouds for a while and then finally the sun went away. Bummer! Oh well, keep painting! It aint rainin yet! Yehaaaaa!! I got lucky today and I didn’t get lost.
